Post by Lee Rider »

Anybody using and can recommend software that will capture notes and chords from played or recorded music?

Thanks

Melodyne is supposed to be good for this, however it is not cheap.
In case you're looking for something to transcribe music from another instrument to steel guitar, I would suggest Guitar Pro

Band in a box will create chord charts based in importing a song file.

Thanks for the info. My tech skills are waning as I advance in age and my ears aren't what they used to be so anything helps.

Hi Lee, I use an OLD program called riffstation. It will load audio files and files from a CD. You can speed it up , slow it down and change keys +- 5 steps i believe . You can also Loop any part you want. It will give you the chord structure of the song which has been helpful to me . I don't know if you can find a copy on the internet or not. The program is about 30MB. I can try and put it in a zip file to reduce the size if you have a program that could open it. I'll gladly send you you a copy if you think you would like to try it? Eddie

Eddie: I checked online and found Riffstation for free, just downloaded and will give it a try later today. Thanks for the suggestion!
